Settlement reached in Lamoille County Lawsuit
The Village of Hyde Park announces that a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit with Lamoille County regarding water and wastewater rates.
The County lawsuit challenged the Village water and wastewater rate structure as previously approved by the Board of Trustees. Acting in the best interest of the Village, the Board of Trustees entered into a settlement agreement with the County to lower the rates for the applicable rate class and avoid further litigation expenses. The resolution finalizes a compromise in the rate structure, whereby the County cost burden will be reduced, while the County and Governmental customers remain responsible for a substantial share of the costs for the recent state required water and wastewater system upgrades.
The Village is pleased to have the matter resolved and thanks our residents and customers for their patience during the process.
