The Village of Hyde Park announces that a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit with Lamoille County regarding water and wastewater rates. The County lawsuit challenged the Village water and wastewater rate structure as previously approved by the Board of Trustees. Acting in the best interest of the Village, the Board of Trustees entered into a settlement agreement with the County to lower the rates for the applicable rate class and avoid further litigation expenses.

Before water improvements financed by the Village water bond, there was no fire flow protection within the pressure zone defined by state regulators for compliance. The Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) just launched the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to help eligible households pay their water and wastewater bills. Eligible households are those with gross household income below 60% of the state median income based on household size.
